Dan Sanders: “Truro Shipwrecks”

On Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at 5 PM Dan will present the stories behind some of the most famous shipwrecks that occurred in the Truro area including one of the worst disaster in the history of the life-saving service on Cape Cod, the wreck of the iron ship Jason, on the bars at Pamet River, Dec. 5, 1893. Twenty-four lives were lost. The British ship was bound from Calcutta, India, for Boston, with a cargo of jute. Please join us on ZOOM for stories of this amazing and tragic part of Truro history.

She’s been an active member of the Truro Historical Society and Highland House Museum for over 20 years. Susan was Curator of the Highland House Museum from 2000-2004 and has served on many of the Board committees. Produced by Jan Worthington and Angela McNerney, “The Story of the Cobb Archive” is a video created in 2022 that tells the story of how Truro’s first public library became the repository for the Truro Historical Society’s archives.

Featuring interviews with Susan Kurtzman, Helen McNeil-Ashton, Norman Pope and Paul Morris the video features the Society’s vast collection of works on paper including books, maps and photographs.
