Wampanoag Nation: People of the First Light 2021 Event

Thank you to all who came out into the heat to help us celebrate the opening of our newest exhibition, Wampanoag Nation: People of the First Light! We were proud to honor the curators, Lauren Kaufmann, Helen McNeil-Ashton and Maura Coughlin. Wampanoag advisors, Steve Peters and Linda Coombs, represented the Wampanoag community and many Truro Historical Society members and guests were on hand to view the exhibition and socialize on the porch of the Highland House Museum.

The Opening Reception coincided with the end of our First Light Tile Project, created and coordinated by Susan Kurtzman who is a member of our Board of Directors and owner of Jobi Pottery, one of Truro’s most famous cottage industries. This project raised much needed funds for future exhibitions at the Highland House Museum. Thank you to Susan, the talented tile artists, and all who participated! You can see the auction results HERE.
