      A VERY BUSY BODY

“People seeking a quiet, health-giving spot, on the sea-coast of New England, where the demands of fashion are not exacting and where the ocean air with its invigorating properties is undefiled by any malarial conditions, will find the Highlands of Cape Cod particularly adapted to their wants.  As a Mecca of rest for the tired pilgrim from the noisy city it has no superior along the Atlantic seaboard.

In 1907, Truro Selectman Isaac Morton Small was a busy body—also Assessor, Overseer of the Poor, Board of Health, School Committee, Library Trustee, and Election Official.  In North Truro, Mr. Small was proprietor the Highland House Hotel and Cottages where he paid $2 for a pool table license, and another $2 for a bowling alley license, while also writing a weekly news column for the Provincetown Advocate—a tidbit here, a tidbit there, and lots of self-promotion.  The previous summer, Mr. Small had decided to replace his aging hotel with a brand-new building; evidently the construction proceeded without too many problems.
