UPCOMING WEBINAR
Wednesday, June 9, 5 PM
Jennifer Weston (Hunkpapa Lakota of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe) has served as director of the Wôpanâak Language Reclamation Project since 2013. Through Weston’s collaborative leadership, WLRP opened Mukayuhsak Weekuw (The Children’s House), a Montessori based Wampanoag language immersion preschool and kindergarten in the fall of 2016. Wushkeenune8ak Weekuw (The Young People’s House), a Lower Elementary Wampanoag language classroom, has since been added, and an Upper Elementary classroom will open in the fall of 2021. Please join Jennifer to learn about the many school- and community-based initiatives WLRP has implemented since its co-founding in 1993 by linguist Jessie Little Doe Baird (Mashpee Wampanoag) and tribal elder and educator Helen Manning (Aquinnah Wampanoag).
