Josephine Hopper, Also an Artist

We are pleased to present a compelling evening dedicated to Josephine Hopper—an accomplished and respected artist whose life and work have often been overshadowed by her husband, Edward Hopper.

Bringing together leading voices in Hopper scholarship—Christine McCarthy of the Provincetown Art Association and Museum, Elizabeth Colleary of the Edward Hopper House in Nyack, and the Truro Historical Society’s Helen McNeil-Ashton—this panel will draw on Josephine’s letters, diaries, and an extraordinary collection of her dresses and textiles from our own collection to offer a vivid and nuanced portrait. Together, they will explore the complexities of her artistic career, personal life, and enduring legacy.

This program is part of our free summer series. Due to limited capacity in our exhibition hall, we request you to reserve your seats; donations are warmly welcomed.
